The Euroblast Festival, alongside UK-Tech-Fest, has become the most important festival of the Modern Progressive Metal scene. Due to its different musical alignments and the singularity of the concept, high-end bands from almost all continents are part of the line-up and visitors come from all over the world. So far, musicians and audiences from 45 countries have taken part.
One of the important characteristics of this festival is the intimate atmosphere between the musician and the audience. On all three days of the festival it is possible to participate in a live exchange. Aside from concerts, music workshops with band members are an integral part of the concept and, moreover, the fairgrounds offer an opportunity for musicians to make contact with famous companies on the scene. In addition, an open jam session allows members of the audience to join the musicians on the stage that piled up the interactive character of the festival. Many bands regard the Euroblast Festival as the starting point of their careers. The festival promoters also arranged tours for established bands with their Euroblast Label.

History
Towards the end of 2007, old friends John Giulio Sprich and Daniel Schneider decided - as there was no such festival - to create their own platform for the innovative band of modern Rock and Metal genres. Both founders can count on their experience as drummers in various bands when it comes to the organization of the first Euroblast Festival. As time passed, the committed team gathered around Sprich and Schneider and they also invited an increasing number of bands leading to various musical styles at the following festivals. For example, TesseracT, an unknown and unsigned band at the time, played at the fourth festival in May 2009; it was their first concert outside the United Kingdom. Since the music labels started paying attention to the festival, some bands could sign a record contract on their participation journey.
After the fifth edition of the festival in August 2009 it was determined to hold the festival in an annual rhythm since then. In October 2010, the sixth took place at the Underground club in Cologne. When it comes to band choice, organizers for the first time concentrate mainly on the innovative Djent movement, the latest form of progressive Rock and Metal.
Since the seventh edition of the festival in October 2011, which is the first to last three days, the promoters have prepared an annual band contest in collaboration with the Internet platform got-djent.com. The winning band is then scheduled to play at the following festivals.
The eighth Euroblast was held in October 2012 and has been designed to last for four days. The first two took place at Cologne Underground and two others at Live Music Hall. After these four days, the bands Monuments, Vildhjarta, Jeff Loomis and Stealing Axion also went on tours throughout Europe hosted by festival promoters.
Since its ninth edition in 2013, the festival is held at Essigfabrik in Cologne. Among others, the German band The Ocean and the Dutch Textures group have been confirmed as headliners. Furthermore, Swedish band Meshuggah has surprisingly been announced as another headliner towards the end of July.
However, shortly after the end of the ninth, the festival organizers announced that the festival's new edition depended on the balance due to financial difficulties. It is futile trying to receive monetary aid from the city of Cologne, the state of Rheinland-Pfalz or the European Union. Finally, the crowdfunding campaign begins and gives the money needed for the Euroblast Festival in 2014. This edition is then very successful, has been convincingly contributing to the worldwide popularity of festivals that help eliminate all obstacles to its future.
In 2015 at Euroblast 11, top class headliners like Between Buried and Me and Leprous are on stage alongside many great newcomers. Also the legendary Cynic, who had their last appearance there before their break.
Headliner at Euroblast 12 in 2017 is Animal as Leader, Born of Osiris, Maya Veil and Ensalved. Due to the unique band selection and loyalty of fans around the world and after a successful 13th edition in 2017 - with top leaders like Devin Townsend, Textures and Twelve Food Ninja - Euroblast has been fully defined as the most important Events in the Progressive Music Movement.
For the 13th edition of Euroblast announced today on 5 - 10 October 2018 a number of bands have been confirmed, including Monument, Vola, Breath of the Last Man, Hypno5e, Dali Thunder Concept, Potato Fate and Vitalism
