This article details various lists of the mathematical topics . Some of these lists are connected to hundreds of articles; some links are just a few. The template on the right includes links to the alphabetical list of all math articles. This article brings together the same content that is organized in a way more suitable for search.
The purpose of this list is not similar to the Mathematical Subject Classification formulated by the American Mathematical Society. Many mathematical journals ask the authors of research papers and expository articles to list the subject codes of the Mathematics Subject Classification on their papers. The subject code listed in the list is used by two main review databases, Maths Reviews and Zentralblatt MATH . This list has some items that do not fit in such a classification, such as a list of exponential topics and factorial and binomial topic lists, which can shock readers with their multiple scopes.

As a rough guide, the list is divided into pure and applied parts although in reality these branches are overlapping and interlinked.
Pure mathematics
Algebra
Algebra includes the study of algebraic structures, whose sets and operations defined on this particular set of axioms are satisfactory. The algebra field is subdivided according to the structure studied; for example, group theory concerns an algebraic structure called group .

Calculus and analysis
Calculus studies the calculation of boundaries, derivatives, and integral functions of real numbers, and in particular studies the rate of momentary change. Analysis evolved from calculus.

Geometry and topology
Geometry was originally the study of spatial figures such as circles and cubes, although it has been broadly generalized. Topology developed from geometry; he sees properties that do not change even when the numbers are deformed by stretching and bending, like dimensions.

Combinatorics
Combinatorics involves the study of discrete (and usually limited) objects. Aspects include "counting" objects that meet certain criteria ( enumerative combinatorics ), deciding when criteria can be met, and building and analyzing objects that meet criteria (as in combinatorial designs and matroid theories >), finds the "largest", "smallest", or "optimal" ( extreme combinator and combinatorial optimizer objects), and finds the algebraic structure that this object may have (< i> combinatoric algebra ).

Logic is the underlying foundation of mathematical logic and remaining mathematics. It tries to formulate valid reasoning. In particular, he tries to define what constitutes evidence.

Dynamic system and differential equations
Differential equations are equations involving unknown functions and their derivatives.
In dynamic systems, rules still represent the time dependence of a point in geometry space. The mathematical model used to describe the swing of the pendulum clock, the flow of water in the pipe, or the number of fish of each spring in the lake is an example of a dynamic system.

Information theory and signal processing
Information theory is a branch of applied mathematics and electrical engineering that involves quantifying information. Historically, information theory has been developed to find fundamental limits on compressing and communicating data reliably.
Signal processing is analysis, interpretation, and signal manipulation. Attractive signals include sounds, images, biological signals such as ECG, radar signals, and many others. Processing of such signals includes filtering, storage and reconstruction, separation of information from noise, compression, and feature extraction.

Probability and statistics
Possible theory is the formalization and study of the mathematics of events or insecure knowledge. Related fields of mathematical statistics develop statistical theory with mathematics. Statistics, the science related to data collection and analysis, is an autonomous discipline (and not a subdiscipline of applied mathematics).
