Ubisoft - Assassin's Creed II
src: ubistatic19-a.akamaihd.net

Assassin's Creed II is a 2009 action video action game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. This is the second major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, the sequel to Assassin's Creed 2007, and the first chapter in Ezio's trilogy. The game was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2009, and was then made available on Microsoft Windows in March 2010 and OS X in October 2010. Some small game related features can be redeemed in Uplay and three downloadable expansion packages are released on Xbox Live.

The plot is set in the setting of fictional history and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fought for peace with free will, and the Knights Templar, who wanted peace through control. The framing story is set in the 21st century and follows Desmond Miles as he relives genetic memories of his ancestors Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The main narrative took place at the height of the Renaissance in Italy during the 15th century and early 16th century. Players can explore Florence, Venice, Tuscany and ForlÃÆ'¬ as they guide Ezio on his efforts to take revenge against those responsible for betraying his family. His main focus is to harness the combat and stealth abilities of the player, as Desmond begins to unravel the mystery left behind by an ancient race known as the First Civilization in the hope of ending the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars.

Using the newly updated Anvil game engine, Assassin's Creed II started development shortly after the release of Assassin's Creed . The game received critical acclaim from video game publications, with praise directed to Renaissance arrangements, narration, characters, design and visual maps, as well as improvements from its predecessors. This is the best-selling game of 2009-2010 and has sold over 9 million copies. It is considered one of the best games ever made, and popularized the Assassin's Creed franchise. The PC version is filled with some criticisms related to digital rights management systems and, thus online DRM is permanently deleted. This game generates follow-up, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and its immediate sequel, Assassin's Creed: Revelations . The remastered version of all three games was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15, 2016 as part of The Ezio Collection .

Gameplay

The player directly controls the character on the screen through a third-person perspective and can control the camera, allowing for a 360 ° view of his environment. The game takes place in an open world environment with nonlinear games, allowing players to roam freely in several regions of Italy at the end of the 15th century such as Venice, Florence, Monteriggioni, ForlÃÆ'¬, San Gimignano, Rome (The Vatican only) and Rural Tuscan. The Animus 2.0, a new version of the machine with the same name present in Assassin's Creed , provides in-game context for changes and additions to some game elements. The database is also available, providing additional historical information about the major landmarks, characters and services that players encounter. The health system has been made more dynamic, with synchronization to the Animus and causing the characters to recover only from minor injuries. More serious injuries require visits to a roadside doctor or drug use (which can be purchased from a doctor or found on the body).

Players can now swim in the water, and Eagle Vision - the ability to identify specific people and landmarks - can now be used in third person displays and while on the move. The young Leonardo da Vinci is present in the game, helping the player by creating a new weapon from the translation "Codex page" that AltaÃÆ'¯r, the main character of the original game, lags behind for analysis and insight into future Assassins. In the game, players will be able to use Leonardo's flying machine (based on Leonardo's real-life plan) during a mission. Players also have the ability to control trains in one level, and can paddle gondolas, and ride horses at any point in the game where they are available between town and city. The settings of various players' places may have been made more detailed and in-depth; civilians sometimes cough or sneeze. In addition, players can rent various NPC groups, such as mercenaries, prostitutes, or thieves; these groups can be used to fight, distract, or attract guards, respectively. The day and night cycles have been added to the game, giving the game more of a sense of time, in addition to setting up missions and events at certain times of the day.

There are many ways to interact with NPCs. Money thrown on the ground, or corpses carried and then stored on the ground, may also serve as a diversion for carers and peasants. There are also some types of enemies, some more agile or stronger than others, and some of them will actively search for a hideout where Ezio is last seen.

The combat system is more complex than its predecessor, with the ability to paralyze opponents using counterattack while unarmed. If a player steals an enemy's weapon, it is possible to follow up with an attack that instantly kills the enemy. Da Vinci provides players with special weapons, such as double-hidden blades, poison knives and miniature wheellock firearms, all based on a scheme found on the AltaÃÆ'¯r Codex page. Generic swords, cutlasses, maces, axes and daggers can all be purchased from vendors in every city. Players can also take any weapon on the ground or use improvised weapons, such as brooms or spears. These weapons are used like a normal blunt weapon. In addition, players can purchase artwork for their villa, get new armor as the game progresses, and even color Ezio's outfit with a number of different colors. Other equipment includes larger pockets to carry more throwing knives and drugs. Six additional weapons can be opened by connecting the PSP with Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines to the PS3.

The rural villas of the Auditore family, located in Monteriggioni, act as Ezio's headquarters: the surrounding property can be upgraded, attracting revenue for player use. There are several outlets for currency use, with sellers selling items such as drugs, poisons, weapons, repairs, upgrades, paintings, and clothes dyes. When these stores are renovated, Ezio receives a discount on the merchandise stores they sell. Purchasing armaments, armor sets and artworks also contributed to improving the overall value of the villa, which ultimately generated more revenue for Monteriggioni.

There are now a wider variety of methods to hide or mingle in the area. One can dive under water to destroy the guard's line of sight, and mixing can be done with a group of people, not just certain types (as in Assassin's Creed ) first. The game has a bad system, with the guard more alert to Ezio's presence depending on his current behavior, location, and mission. This blasphemy can be reduced through a bribe, remove the desired poster, or kill a corrupt official.

The mission in this game now has an expanded variety, with different structures. For example, a mission may have a purpose to escort someone, but may turn into a pursuit and murder. Investigations are less explicit, and conversely missions may follow people and/or narrations. There are about 200 missions in the game; about half is part of the main storyline, while the rest is a side quest that does not need to be solved to complete the main storyline of the game. Cities also contain hidden locations like catacombs and caves (designs that have been compared by developers to the Prince of Persia series, where the goal is to navigate the area). Navigating these locations ultimately rewards players with Seal Assassin; The collection of all six Seals allows players to unlock the Armor of AltaÃÆ'r, in the hidden part of the Villa.

Like Assassin's Creed, characters based on historical figures are in-game, including Leonardo da Vinci, NiccolÃÆ'² Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza, Bartolomeo d'Alviano, Lorenzo de 'Medici, Pazzi family, Barbarigo family and Pope Alexander VI.

Locations in the game include the Tuscany region (Florence, Monteriggioni and San Gimignano), the Apennine Mountains, the Romagna region (ForlÃÆ'¬), Venice and Rome. The special landmarks include St. Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, the Little Canal, the Rialto Bridge, the Santa Maria del Fiore, the Sistine Chapel, the Santa Croce, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Santa Maria Novella.

Synopsis

Plot

After the Assassin's Creed episode, Desmond Miles's test subjects were rescued from cages by Assassin Lucy Stillman in disguise and taken to a secluded secluded house, where he met his team of historians and analysts Shaun Hastings and technicians Rebecca Crane. Using a design plan stolen by Lucy, they have created their own version of Animus, dubbed "Baby", which will be used to train Desmond as an Assassin through the so-called "Bleeding Effect", which allows users to learn all the abilities of their ancestors instant. Desmond was assigned to investigate the memories of his ancestors Ezio Auditore da Firenze, beginning with his birth to the rich Florentine family at the end of the 15th century.

The story then jumps forward a few years, with Ezio growing into a charismatic but reckless young man in the Renaissance. After his father and siblings were hanged after being betrayed by a corrupt judge, Ezio killed him and fled to his ancestral home Monteriggioni with his mother and sister. There, his uncle, Mario, explains that both he and his late father served the ancient order known as the Assassin, and agreed to train Ezio secretly and fight. With his new ability, Ezio begins his quest to kill those responsible for organizing his father's death, including politicians, bankers, mercenaries, and merchants who side with the Pazzi and Barbarigo families. The search takes him to cities like Florence, San Gimignano, ForlÃÆ'¬, and Venice. During his journey, Ezio also made a number of new allies, including the philosopher NiccolÃÆ'² Machiavelli and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who last gave him new equipment based on information left by the Codex Altair. While in Venice, he studied the identity of the Templar leader known as "the Spaniards": Rodrigo Borgia, who had planned to secure all of Italy for the Order by uniting the most influential family behind his leadership. Dressed as a soldier, he faces Rodrigo while helping him carry Apple of Eden to Rome. Armed with papal staff - who turns out to be a piece of Eden - Rodrigo expressed his intention to open "Vault", a room he believes contains more power than any other world ever known. He manages to escape, leaving Apple in possession of Ezio. As a reward for service, Mario has been formally inducted into the Assassins.

Around this time, Desmond reveals the random memories left over from his time at Abstergo, where Altair is shown impregnating Maria Thorpe, a Templar whom she met in previous games. He also found a series of glyphs similar to the ones he found in his cell, which, when solved, revealed the vision of two human slaves stealing Apple. Video ends with ASCII code (in binary) for "EDEN" (01000101 01000100 01000101 01001110). The team theorized that the two men were probably Adam and Eve, the first man and woman.

With some parts of the memory too damaged to be accessed (later made available as a DLC Sequence), the team sent Desmond to the last memory, set in 1499. With Rodrigo now secure in his position as Pope Alexander VI, Ezio infiltrated the Vatican City during Mass and defeated he's in a fight. Instead of killing his arch-rivals, he lets him live with the knowledge that he has failed. Combining Apple and Staff, he opens the entrance to the vault. Inside, she was contacted by a strange woman named Minerva. Realizing that Desmond listened, he explained how his people, "First Civilizations", created humanity to serve them, but were later destroyed by an unknown disaster. Survivors join their former employees, build a network of domes to preserve their technology and culture and serve as a future disaster prevention action. Before disappearing, he tells Desmond that only he who has the power to fulfill this "prophecy", leaves him and Ezio confused what he means.

Shortly thereafter, Abstergo's agent led by Vidic entered the hideout, forcing the team to leave everything except the Animus. As they head to the new location, Lucy tells Desmond that the Assassins have detected strange events in the Earth's magnetic field; The solar flare that is scheduled to pass through the planet in a few months is likely to trigger the same event that ended the First Civilization. Desmond prepares to reenter the Animus, starting the story of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Downloadable content

On December 1, 2009, Ubisoft announced the first of several downloadable content (DLC) expansions for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Assassin's Creed II . The first, titled The Battle of ForlÃÆ'¬Â , continues the story of Caterina Sforza, and was released on January 28, 2010. It also includes a special memory that allows users to pilot Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine over the ForlÃÆ' ¬. The second expansion, titled Bonfire of the Vanities , involves a mass burning a sinful object in Florence and was released on February 18, 2010. It was originally planned to be included as part of the main game, but was later cut short due to time constraints; this problem is written into the game story as Animus which destroys some memories. Both retail and digital versions of the PC Deluxe version include this DLC package as part of the main storyline.

Uplay Content

The Ubisoft Uplay system allows for further in-game enhancements that can be redeemed for points given during game play. The awards available are the theme of Assassin's Creed II or wallpaper for PC and PlayStation 3, 5 additional throwing knives, AltaÃÆ'¯r clothing and Uplay exclusive Auditore Family Crypt map.

Battle ForlÃÆ'¬

Two downloadable content packages display a faulty memory sequence, which Rebecca can fix with computer patches. The sequence 12, "ForlÃÆ'¬ Under Attack" (released as The Battle of ForlÃÆ'¬Â ) was set in 1488, right after Ezio had restored Apple of Eden. Machiavelli, Mario Auditore, Ezio and da Vinci met to discuss what to do to protect Apple, and it was decided that it would be sent to Romagna, to be defended by Caterina Sforza. When Ezio arrives however, he discovers that the city is being attacked from Orsi Brothers, who has been hired by Borgia to pick up a map showing the location of the Codex yard, made by the husband of the late Sforza. In an effort to force Sforza to hand over the map, the brothers kidnap their children. Ezio leaves Apple in protection of Sforza; he rescues his sons and kills one brother Orsi. When he returns, he discovers that Checco, his other brother, uses a distraction to steal Apple. Ezio chases, and kills Checco. As he stood on Checco's body, Checco stabbed Ezio. Ezio falls to the bloody floor, and before he collapses, he sees a man who lost his finger and put on a monastic robe taking on Apple.

Ezio wakes up with Sforza by his side. He sets out to recapture Apple, and Sforza gives him a map of the location of the Codex page. He traveled to a monastery in a wetland, where he was sent to the ForlÃÆ' 'monastery. He tried to talk to Abbas, but the abbot admitted him as an Assassin who killed Stefano de Bagnone (one of Pazzi's conspirators) and escaped. When Ezio caught him, Abbas named the monk who stole Apple as Girolamo Savonarola.

The package also includes a bonus memory in which Ezio can pilot Leonardo's Flying Machine over the ForlÃÆ'¬¬ region. Unlike ordinary memories, players can play this memory in unlimited amounts.

Bonfire of the Vanities

The sequence 13 begins in 1497, two years before the order of 14 and nine years after Order 12, after Assassin's Creed II: Discovery. Ezio has tracked Savonarola to Florence, where players can now explore the city's southern districts. After meeting Machiavelli, Ezio planned that bringing riots to the city would force Savonarola to come out and resolve the riots. To realize this unrest, Ezio killed nine lieutenants of Savonarola who preached in the city. The people became angry and the crowd appeared outside the square, where Savonarola preached to the masses to disperse. He exposes Apple to bewitch the crowd, but Ezio quickly throws a knife into Piece of Eden and Savonarola drops it. The crowd walked to bring the monk away, but a Templar messenger quickly rushed in to retrieve Apple; Ezio rushed after the guard and took it back. After that, the crowd took Savonarola to Piazza della Signoria to burn it at the stake, but Ezio, believing no one deserved a painful fate, jumped onto a wooden platform, leapt in Savanarola, and stabbed a monk with a hidden knife to save him. she's hurt. Ezio stands in front of a confusing crowd and declares that all must follow their own path, as taught by his mentors.

Reception

Upon release, Assassin's Creed II receives critical acclaim. Review the aggregator site Metacritic gives the PlayStation 3 version 91 and the Xbox 360 90 version, making it the highest-rated game on the franchise on the site.

In an exclusive review by Official Xbox Magazine , Assassin's Creed II gets a value of 9/10. The second review is the perfect value of Official PlayStation Magazine US , while the Official PlayStation Magazine UK prints the game 9/10.

The German magazine Computer Bild Spiele reports that game publishers offer to provide game copies before release if the magazine will guarantee the "excellent" reviews. The magazine rejected the request and chose to delay their review.

GameSpot is reviewing the PC version of the game, saying that although the game is "fun and beautiful" it's hard to justify a higher price point. It also said that the game was blocked by DRM Ubisoft and the game "deserves better." For that, PC gamers also deserve better.

According to predictions of pre-official sales, Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed II sold 1.6 million copies worldwide during its first week of sales, representing a 32 percent increase during the first week of retail performance from the original Assassin's Creed . On February 10, 2010, the game has sold 9 million copies.

At the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards, Assassin's Creed II was named Best Action Adventure Game, and IGN named it as Action Game of the Year for Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Game of the Year. Game Informer also named it as Xbox 360 Game of the Year. It also received Game of the Year from GamePro , Eurogamer and The New York Times . Assassin's Creed II has been nominated for "Outstanding Achievement in Animation", "Extraordinary Achievement in Art Direction", "Extraordinary Achievement in Visual Engineering", "Extraordinary Achievement in Game Game Engineering", "Achievement Extraordinary in Genuine Stories "," Extraordinary Achievements in Genuine Music Composition "," Extraordinary Achievements in Sound Design "," Extraordinary Achievements in Game Direction "," Adventure Games of the Year ", and" Overall Game of the Year "Awards Interactive Achievements from Interactive Arts Academy & amp; Science. The game is also nominated for several Game Developers Choice Awards including "Best Game Design", "Best Visual Art", "Best Technology", and "Game of the Year".

This game is included in the 2010 book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die . In December 2015, Game Game rated the game as the second best game in the Assassin's Creed series to date.

DRM-related critic

The PC version of this game uses Uplay Ubisoft platform, which includes a digital rights management system (DRM) which initially requires all users to stay connected to the Internet while playing. In early retail versions, any progress made after the last check is lost if the Internet connection is lost. Ubisoft states that if the termination is temporary, the game will stop. In addition, the company believes that there are many checkpoints scattered throughout Assassin's Creed II. The company is also criticized by members of the US Armed Forces abroad, who can not play games while on site with sporadic and expensive connections. Ubisoft has published patches to finally remove DRM: PC version of the Retail Edition or Deluxe Digital Edition now requires one-time online activation, after which the game, activation keys, and Uplay Account will be tied together. and games can be played offline, even with Uplay Launcher logging in offline. The game can then be activated repeatedly on an existing or new machine and can still be played offline.

Shortly after the release of the Windows version, Ubisoft claimed that a cracked game version has not been created, and confirmed by at least one website. Over the next weekend, DRM servers for Silent Hunter 5 and Assassin's Creed II , according to Ubisoft, are affected by denial-of-service attacks. Ubisoft later stated that "95 percent of players are not affected, but a small group of players who try to open a game session do receive a service error rejection." The server emulator to overcome DRM has been developed. The cracked dynamic-link library that passes the connection requirements is entirely released in late April.

Following a series of server outages, Ubisoft offered to all Windows version owners of DLCs from Assassin's Creed II Black Edition (although there has been Battle of Forli and Bonfire from Arrogant DLC entered in story mode from start by default), or free copy of Heroes Over Europe, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Tom Clancy's HAWX, or Prince of Persia (2008).

DRM has been modified in December 2010. At that time, the game no longer requires a constant Internet connection while playing. Instead, players must be connected to the Internet every time a game is launched. In 2012, Ubisoft announced that it will patch the game to remove internet access as a requirement to play, and will not require internet access for DRM for the next. It works on PC version. The PC version of the Retail Edition or Deluxe Digital Edition now requires one-time online activation, after which the game, activation keys, and Uplay Account will be tied together and the game can be played offline, even with Uplay Launcher forced to run in Offline Mode in the Settings Menu. The game can then be activated infinitely on an existing or new machine if the game was re-installed for some reason, and it can still be played offline. The same rule for Assassin's Creed II on PC now applies to any Ubisoft game on PC that ever needs a persistent online connection. But none of these changes affect the Mac OS X version of the game that still requires a constant Internet connection and the player still loses progress if the internet connection is interrupted.

Sequel

Discussions on the details of Assassin's Creed III had been in existence before the Assassin's Creed II release, with the idea of a gaming staff about the possibility of having female offspring in Britain during World War II. However, co-writer Corey May has stated that this series will never happen during that period, since the main purpose is to bring players to settings that are not normally visited in the game. Ubisoft Philippe Bergeron stated that the potential arrangements could include England in the Middle Ages, during the era of King Arthur, and the Japanese feudal, the latter of which has become a "personal favorite" much in the staff. However, on March 1, 2012, the arrangement for Assassin's Creed III was revealed to be a colonial Boston during the American Revolution, starring the original American protagonist RatonhnakÃÆ' Ã… ©: ton. This game was released in late October 2012.

Two Assassin's Creed games were released simultaneously with Assassin's Creed II: Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines and Assassin's Creed II: Discovery . Discovery is set during the lost chapter in II and features Ezio Auditore. The direct sequel, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, was released on November 16, 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, continuing directly after the Assassin's Creed II event. The game once again features Ezio Auditore da Firenze as the main protagonist, and includes a new online multiplayer mode. The game mainly takes place in Rome, the center of power for the Borgia family and the Templars. The main antagonist of the game is Cesare Borgia, son of Rodrigo Borgia.
