Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology KCAET , the only Agricultural Engineering college in Kerala, is located in Tavanur in the Malappuram district. It was named after freedom fighter and social reformer Sri K. Kelappan.
The college is affiliated with the Agricultural Engineering Faculty of Kerala Agricultural University.
B.Tech. and M.Tech. The Agricultural Engineering course started at the 99-acre campus (400,000 m 2 ) in 1985. A B.Tech. in Food Engineering was added in 2011. The main courses offered at KCAET are B.Tech. in the field of Agricultural Engineering and Food Engineering, with an intake capacity of 40 per course, and M.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering. The M. Tech. in Agricultural Engineering is offered in the disciplines of Soil and Water Conservation Techniques, Power and Energy Generating Machines and Food Processing Techniques, each having an intake capacity of 5.

Histori
1963 hingga 1985
In 1963, the Government of India initiated the Rural Institute in Tavanur (Malappuram District) in Kerala. 99 hectares of land for this institute was obtained from Sri Parameshwaran Nambudiri from Tavanur Mana. In 1975, the institute was taken over by Kerala Agricultural University and renamed the Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT). The IAT offers Diplomas in subjects including Agricultural and Agricultural Sciences and Rural Engineering. And in 1987 this diploma program is stopped.
1985 to present
In 1985, the institute was renamed, as a College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology of Apparel. Until then Agricultural Engineering courses have been under the College of Agriculture at Vellayani. It was then taken to Tavanur and renamed B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering under the faculty of Agriculture Engineering KAU. In 2011, B.Tech. in food engineering is added.
