A Bachelor of Arts ( BA or AB , from Latin baccalaureus artium or artium baccalaureus ) is a bachelor's degree programs both in liberal arts, science, or both. The Bachelor of Arts program typically takes three to four years depending on a specific state, institution, and specialty, department, or minor. The baccalaureus (from Latin bacca , a berry, and laureus confused with baccalaureatus (can be translated as "gold-plated sticks" by Latina bacum and aureatus ), at the postgraduate degree of one year to two years Bachelor of Arts with Honors Baccalaureatus in Artibus Cum Honore ) in some countries.
The diploma generally gives the name of the institution, the signature of the official of the institution (generally the president or president of the university as well as the secretary or dean of the college component), the type of degree awarded, authorizes, and the location in which the degree is awarded. Generally, diplomas are printed on high quality paper or parchment; Individual institutions set the preferred abbreviations for their degree.
Bachelor of Arts is usually achieved in four years in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Armenia, Kenya, Canada, Greece, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Nigeria, Serbia, Spain, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Russia, , South Korea, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, Hong Kong, the United States, and most of America. The level of achievement generally takes three years in almost all EU and Albania, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Israel, New Zealand, Iceland, Norway, Singapore, Caribbean, South Africa, Switzerland, and Quebec Province in Canada. In Pakistan, the Bachelor of Arts can also be achieved within two years as an external degree.

At colleges and universities in Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, and South Africa, a BA can be taken for three years of full-time study. Students must pursue at least one major field of study, and units of the subject are typically studied in each year, although sometimes students may choose to complete upper level classes in the same year and as a result, may leave room for the chosen subjects of that field different. In some universities, students may choose to pursue a second major; alternatively, the remainder of the degree is taken with a small field of study (within the first two years) and the individual subject or other stream forms the degree.
Unlike in other countries, students do not receive overall grades for their Bachelor of Arts degree with varying degrees of honor ("honor" is a distinction but not a part of the degree itself). Eligible students may be accepted, once they have achieved their Bachelor (general) program with an overall high average score, for a one year Bachelor (with) Honors degree program ( (with) Honors is a part of the level itself). Thus, to achieve a Bachelor's degree (with) Honors (eg BA (Hons.) Or BA hons.), Supplementary "graduate" years and high thesis research thesis must be completed; see Honors Degree. A student holding a degree (with) Honors is eligible to enter directly into either a Doctorate (Ph.D.) or a very high Research Master Degree program.
Education in Canada is controlled by the Province and can vary greatly depending on the province in Canada. Universities in Canada typically offer a four-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). In many universities and colleges, a Bachelor of Arts degree is distinguished as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Arts degree. The term "Honors" is an academic distinction, indicating that students must achieve a Bachelor of Arts degree with a fairly high overall grade; in addition, some programs may require more education than non-honors programs.
The degree of honor is sometimes designated by the abbreviation in parentheses '(Hon (s))'. Should not be confused with a Bachelor of Arts degree in a row "with Honors", Latin "Baccalaureatus in Artibus Cum Honore", abbr. 'BA hon.' de jure without brackets and with a dot. This is a "graduate" degree. Back in history, a three-year Bachelor of Arts (also known for example in QuÃÆ' à © bec as a class de bachelier ÃÆ'ès art) is also called a graduate degree or a general degree.
A student who first achieves a General Bachelor of Arts degree with a fairly high overall average is admissible for a bachelor's degree "Baccalaureatus cum Honore" graduate in the same field; requires a minimum of one year but may also take longer; usually not more than two years. Students may be required to undertake a high-quality long-term empirical research thesis (Honors Seminar Thesis) combined with a choice of courses from the relevant field of study. A successive B. cum Honor degree is important if the final goal of the student is to study toward a highly qualified two or three year master's degree qualification. A student holding a Baccalaureatus Cum Honore degree may also choose to complete the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program without the requirement to complete a master's degree first. Over the years, at some universities, certain Baccalaureatus cum Honore programs have been converted to the appropriate master degree.
In general, in all four countries, B.A. degree is the standard required for admission to the master's program. In science, a BA hons degree is generally a prerequisite for admission to a Ph.D. program or a very high-level research-research program. Thus, for example the UK is awarded a design honor designed and should not be equated with BA hons/BA (Hons) from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
For further clarification, in other countries the so-called bachelor honors may not be the actual title, but the name of the program (work) that can be accomplished through certain course work, the high-class average, and possible settlement short term papers or projects; students who complete such an honors program may sometimes arrange themselves with '(Hon)' after the title without space, in parentheses and after 'Hon (s)' without a dot, eg 'BA (Hon) '. 3 and 4 years B.A. degrees are also accepted for admission to a postgraduate professional program such as law or program M.B.A.

Netherlands/Europe
In the Netherlands, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree was introduced in 2002. Until then there was one program leading to a doctorandus degree. It consists of the same course loads as the combined Bachelor and Master programs. The title doctorandus is used in almost all fields of study; Other titles are used for legal studies ( meester , Dutch for master, abbreviated Mr. ) and techniques (ingenieur ). Those who have started the doctorandus program may, in completion, choose a doctorandus degree (granting them the right to use "Drs." In front of their name), or may use a master's degree (post-nominal letter) according to the new standard. Similar practices have been introduced in other EU countries, according to the Bologna Process.
German
In Germany, university-level education usually takes place either at the UniversitÃÆ'ät (plural: UniversitÃÆ'äten) or Fachhochschule (plural: ); both of which can be referred to as the Hochschule , which is a common term in Germany for all institutions that provide academic degrees. Fachhochschule is often translated as "University of Applied Sciences". Universitace places greater emphasis on basic science and theoretical background, while Fachhochschulen is generally designed with a focus on teaching professional skills. The degrees earned at UniversitÃÆ'äten and Fachhochschulen are legally equivalent.
In Germany, B.A. usually lasting between 3 and 3 Ã, ½ years - 6 or 7 semesters - and are awarded after the students produce between 180 and 210 ECTS.
English and Irish
In the United Kingdom (excluding Scotland) and Ireland, the first degree programs usually last for three years, but the nomenclature is diverse: 19th and later universities typically distinguish between art and science subjects by awarding B.A. or B.Sc. degree. However, some older or older universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Dublin traditionally reward S1 students after completing the final exam, eg. Part II Tripos (Cambridge), Final Honor Schools (Oxford), Moderatorship (Dublin), in most subjects including science. Several new glass dish universities were founded in 1960, as York and Lancaster initially followed the Oxford and Cambridge practice by awarding B.A.s in all subjects, but have since turned into a B.Sc award. degrees in science subjects. In Oxford, Cambridge and Dublin, M.A. can be claimed, usually 21 times after matriculation. Over the centuries, a bachelor's degree is an intermediate step and is awarded for most of the work done later in high school. The names of high school exams in France and Spain (and increasingly in the UK - International Baccalaureureate) come from this: le BaccalaurÃÆ' à © at and el Bachillerato , respectively.
The Ancient Universities of Scotland award a Master of Arts degree for humanities or art graduates, but B.Sc. for science graduates. This course takes four years for honors and three for ordinar. In Scotland, it is possible to choose to take a regular degree rather than this just ranking under a third class of honors (eg, B.A. with distinction, achievement or graduation).
Bachelor of Arts is entitled to the appointment of B.A. for a regular/graduate degree and a B.A. (Hons) for an honors degree. Students completing a B.A. sometimes styles themselves with '(Hon)' or '(Hons)' after degree degree in brackets. An honors degree is always awarded in one of four classes depending on the value gained in the assessment and the final exam. Top students are awarded a first-class degree, followed by a second-class upper degree (usually called 2: 1), a lower second class (commonly referred to as 2: 2), and those with the lowest marks get a third grade degree. An ordinary or unclassified title (which does not give graduates the right to add '(Hons)') can be awarded if a student has completed a full honors degree program but has not earned the required number who graduated enough to earn a third class honors degree. Usually these degrees lack the requirements of the last year of the dissertation.
