The National Quiz Bee is currently the nation's longest academic quiz competition in the Philippines. Started as a national bee spelling in 1977, National Quiz Bee is currently awarding math, science, general information, and Philippine history. The show aired on IBC-13 and Studio 23 and was hosted by Eddie Lacsi, Bingbing Josue, Pettizou Tayag, Atom Araullo, Spanky Enriquez and Danny Fajardo.

The National Quiz Bee is hosted by the Quiz Bee Foundation. The program enjoys cheap support from the private sector, most of which provide gifts and TV coverage. The National Quiz Bee is also supported and assisted by various Philippine government agencies, including the Ministry of Education (DepEd), the Higher Education Commission (CHED), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Senate, and the Presidential Office.

Histori

In 1976, Rasty Tayag, along with DECS earlier, launched a national base spelling contest dubbed "The 1976 Spelling Vegetable Contest".

After the success of Spelling Bee, Gay Tayag (educator and wife Rasty?) Proposed that the contest should not be limited to spelling and grammar (though covering these subjects were dropped altogether), but rather extended to the science, mathematics, and history and culture of the Philippines. It was also decided that an average of 10 questions would be required per round (starting from easy, average, difficult and decisive), making it a quick test or quiz. Tayag later changed the word "spelling" in spelling to "quiz", thus bringing together the terms "quiz bees", and Bee's First National Quiz was born.

Rasty and Gay Tayag launched Quiz Bee to promote academic excellence, country love, fraternity and unity among elementary school children in the country. From the beginning, has received support and cooperation from the Office of the President, DECS, and DILG.

Since 1977, Bee Quiz has been consistently held as an annual event. In this year, too. Tayag listed the term "quiz bees" as a copyright and trademark with the Philippine Patent Office.

To institute Quiz Bee and related projects and programs, Tayags, along with leading educators in the Philippines, founded the Quiz Bee Foundation in 1983. Carlos P. Romulo served as the first Chairman and Rasty Tayag as President. Other members of the Founding Trustees include: President of the University of the Philippines Edgardo Angara, Dr. Helena Benitez, Dr. Estefania Aldaba-Lim, Atty. Efrenilo Cayanga, and Metro Manila's Mel Mathay.

In 1979, after 2 years of planning, 1st ASEAN Quiz Bee was held in Manila. The national champion of the 2nd National Bee Quiz as a state representative, against competitors from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. For this competition, the category of history and culture of the Philippines is expanded to include the history and culture of ASEAN.

In 1988, the first World Quiz Bee was launched, with nothing less than William Randolph Hearst, Jr. who serves as a member of the World Quiz Bee Advisory Board. For this competition, once again the category of history and culture expanded to include world history & amp; culture. Billed as "The Peak of the World's Young Genius", the 1st World Quiz was held in Manila in 1990. The national champion of the 11th National Quiz served as the representative of the Philippines against a competitor from?

In 1993, in line with the 2000 Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos program, the competition now includes high school and college students, and the name was changed to National Super Quiz Bee.

Quiz Bee has become a national tilt for more than 16.5 million students in over 40,000 private and public schools. The program now serves as a nerve center for educational and cultural exchanges, thus enabling challenges and opportunities for the realization of their enormous potential youth - making Quiz Bee therefore, the youth contribution to "global excellence"!

In recent years, saw the performance of Grand Final Quiz Bee outside the bounds of Manila. Grand Final Grand National Bee Grand Bee was held in Muntinlupa City in 1997 organized by Mayor of Toting Bunye and City Council. Grand Final Grand National Bee Grand Final was staged at Pilotino Expo, Pampanga, Grand Quiz Bee Grand 20th National Final at Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Olongapo City. Grand Quiz Bee Grand 21st - 26th Final is at the Philippine Conference Center Development Academy & amp; The hotel in Tagaytay City, dubbed the Peak House of Super Quiz Bee.

The year 2000 onwards presents special features for the next National Bee Quiz. The National Capital Division and Regional Championships are held at a prominent shopping mall in Metro Manila along with Division staging and Regional competitions in other regions throughout the country.

Feasibility Rules

  • Every school recognized by DepEd is eligible to compete. It should involve students enrolled at school at the rate specified at the time the season begins. Every student enrolled in the current school year from a private or public school, college or university in the Philippines. Thus, overseas Filipino schools recognized by DepEd are technically ineligible. Each student enrolled in the current school year of a public or private school with an average academic grade of 85%, equivalent or higher, which falls within the following levels and age groups may join the competition.

The Quiz Bee promotes academic excellence by preparing students and teachers/professors for competition at the school and district level, then to divisions and regional levels, and then finally to the national grand final.

Personnel of the Ministry of Education (DepEd) related to affinity or kinship up to third (third) level for each contestant or teacher - trainer is disqualified in the committee involved in the planning and formulation of questions in the Bee Quiz contest also can not act as trainer of any contestant. Past champions from National, ASEAN, and World Quiz Bee no longer qualify to join the Quiz Bee competition in the future to give others the chance to win the highest honors. All Champions from National, ASEAN and World Quiz Bee are automatically forbidden to join similar contests for one (1) year period from their Quiz Bee Championship.

  • As is usual in an academic quiz format broadcast on television in the Philippines, which promotes the concept of 'giving others a chance', one can become a Grand Champion just once per level. This means winning the SD Main Championship twice is not allowed, but winning 1 SD and 1 Grand Championship secondary school is.

Inquirer Guyitos

IF SOMETHING HAPPENED IN the Museum of Ayala on the night of December 5, the private sector of the country will fall apart.

Because on that cool night, the captains of industry took time out of their tight schedule to witness the opening of 20 Guyitos painted by top Philippine artists as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the Inquirer.

In 2005, the Inquirer, in its ongoing partnership with the Quiz Bee Foundation, awarded 20 carabao-size statues of a newspaper mascot, Guyito, painted by some of the country's leading artists, to the nation's last public schools in the final sequence. year National Quiz Bee.

The Inquirer partnered with the Bee Quiz Foundation in choosing a school, a process that took about six months.

Made from fiberglass, Guyitos is carved by artist Sajid Imao and then painted by artists of Malang, Ben Cabrera, Kidlat Tahimik, Jack Salud, Ernesto Patricio, Steve Santos, Lydia Velasco, Fernando Sena, Salvador Convocar, Soler, Caa, Bing Siochi, Roel Obemio , Tres Roman, Wilfredo Offemaria, Bin Samonte, Jef Samonte, Romeo Forbes, Rex Tatlonghari and Anton Balao.

Every artist is free to interpret this year's theme, "The Power of Knowing." The results are as varied as the opinions, news, features and photos brought by the Inquirer in any matter.

Each of the top advertisers gets a smaller version of Guyito in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the Inquirer. They also helped honor the 20 schools chosen to receive Guyitos the size of a human, a symbol of thanksgiving newspapers to Filipinos.

In 2005, the Philippine Daily Inquirer led by the chairman of Marixi R. Prieto, in a continuing partnership with the Quiz Bee Foundation gave twenty (20) life-size sculptures of priceless Guyito (carabao) conducted by leading painters in the country (Malang , Ben). Cabrera, Soler, Kidlat Tahimik, Rex Tatlonghari, Steve Santos, and more) to public high schools across the country that ranked highest in 26 National Super Quiz Bee. During the awards night at the Ayala Museum, scholarship recipients, their teachers - coaches, school officials and parents also mingle with top industry leaders in the country (Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Teresita Sy, Robina Gocongwei, Manny Pangilinan, Rico Tantoco for naming some) and has front row seats for concerts with internationally acclaimed Lea Salonga (former host of Quiz Bee himself) and the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.

Regardless of Guyito's opening, Travel Knowledge has an added bonus: A lecture/journalism workshop is awarded for high school graduate classes by editors, journalists and executive Inquirers.

They discussed the importance of reading and sharing their expertise on effective, editing and lay-out reading and writing.

Participants were given a handbook on journalistic styles, methods, ethics and best practices, as well as Guy doll dolls and school supplies.

Kalagayan said Knowledge Trip is part of the Inquirer's advocacy for youth empowerment that emphasizes the role of media in nation building. It also seeks to prevent a downward trend in youth youth.

The top 20 high schools in the Inquirer round of 26 National Super Quiz Bee were selected from 40,000 schools in 17 regions. The Guyitos are given to the following schools:

From January to May 2006, Inquirer representatives will visit the 20 selected schools/cities to hand over the statue. In addition, the Inquirer Campus Journalistic Workshop will be held in each school. A one-day lecture/workshop will feature an Inquirer reporter, editor and columnist who will discuss specific journalism topics and share their expertise in writing, editing, and crafting an effective layout. The number of student participants will be determined by the available school places. Delegates will be given handbooks on journalistic styles, methods, ethics, and best practices.
