Level O ( Ordinary Level ; official title: General Education Certificate: Ordinary Level ) is a qualification based on the subject given as part of the General Education Certificate. It was introduced as part of the British education reform along with deeper A-level and rigorous academics (official qualification certificate: General Education Certificate - Advanced) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These three jurisdictions replace the O Level gradually with the Secondary Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams from time to time. The Scottish equivalent is the O-class (replaced by the Standard Class). The O Level qualification is still given by CIE Cambridge International Examinations, an international partner of the British Board OCR exam (Oxford, Cambridge & Royal Society of Arts), at selected locations, rather than or along with the qualification of the General Certificate of Secondary Education.. Both CIE and OCR have Cambridge Assessment as their parent organization. Cambridge O Level has been removed, and is no longer available in certain administrative areas.
